This is an unofficial, public blog with private resources for every worker within the building trades. It began for rank and file membership of the UBC in compliance with their constitutional obligation.
Spread out on job sites like remote islands,
Construction workers have long faced the challenge of organizing with one another.
The Carpenter was a newspaper founded by Peter J. McGuire and Gustav Luebkert to form the scaffolding for the idea of a national union. In the same spirit as The Carpenter, The Control Line serves as the scaffolding of ideas for union and non-union construction workers based on the following principles:
1) We strive to overcome the isolation faced by individual workers to help one another to develop a class struggle perspective that serves our working class interest for a society controlled by workers in our projects and exposure: socially, economically, and politically.
2) We strive to sort out questions by engaging and defending principles and ideas.
3) We strive to maintain a public presence to involve and engage other workers in construction and other industries
